The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Bulacan 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) on Monday has mobilized its Disaster Response Teams to monitor and report the status of national roads and bridges while providing immediate assistance to affected communities due to the continuous rainfall brought by the Southwest Monsoon, intensified by Tropical Storm Enteng.
District Engineer Henry Alcantara explained that their manpower and quick response assets are positioned at key road sections such as Manila North Road, Maharlika Highway, Bigaa-Plaridel Road, and Plaridel Bypass Road due to their high traffic volume, strategic importance, and historical vulnerability to flooding.
“Our Disaster Response Teams are prepared to conduct emergency operations and clearing efforts to ensure public mobility on all sections of our national roads and address any urgent situations,” Alcantara stated.
This also includes asphalt patching caused by flooding.
Alcantara also reported that heavy machinery and other necessary equipment are ready for debris clearing operations, anticipating potential falling trees and flooding due to the continuous rainfall.
“Our response teams will continue to monitor the conditions along our national roads and bridges, providing immediate assistance in response to any damages that may occur after the typhoon,” Alcantara said.
He added that they will conduct the initial assessment of damages and prepare detailed reports on affected structures, including cost estimates for restoration, once the storm has subsided.
