The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Nueva Ecija 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) conducted the “Gamit Pang-Eskwela, Hatid ay Saya” outreach program at Poblacion Sur Elementary School in Talavera on July 3, 2025.
Now in its 8th year, the initiative—part of the District Engineers League of the Philippines, Inc.’s (DELP) annual effort—helped 249 students from Grades 1 to 6 by providing learning materials such as notebooks, pad papers, crayons, pens, rulers, and other essential supplies.
OIC-District Engineer Jun Vana emphasized that the activity reflects their continued support for education by equipping learners with basic tools and fostering a more conducive learning environment.
“Cleaning materials, including mops, brooms, and dustbins, were likewise provided to help maintain the school’s cleanliness and daily upkeep, along with 10 electric fans to improve classroom ventilation,” Vana added.
Planning and Design Section Chief Vincent Jay Sagun and Quality Assurance Section Chief Fe Sumang, together with other district office employees, also participated in the outreach, assisting in the distribution of supplies and engaging with students and teachers throughout the program.
This effort forms part of the ongoing commitment of DPWH and DELP to uplift public schools nationwide through annual assistance and community engagement.
