PRO3 seized illegal drugs, smuggled cigarettes

Nearly P3 million worth of illegal drugs and more than P158,000 worth of smuggled cigarettes were confiscated recently by the Police Regional Office 3.
Investigation showed that the illegal drugs were recovered through buy-bust operations, service of warrants, and police interventions conducted in different parts of Central Luzon.
“The accomplishments stemmed from intelligence-driven operations and sustained enforcement activities in line with the focused agenda of the Philippine National Police,” said Central Luzon top cop PBGen Jess Mendez.
Meanwhile, the seizure of smuggled cigarettes forms part of the government’s intensified campaign against illicit trade, which authorities said undermines legitimate businesses and deprives the government of significant tax revenues.
The anti-smuggling drive aligns with the directive of DILG Sec. Jonvic Remulla, who has called for stronger enforcement measures against illicit trade.
