Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga- The Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) is already geared up for the third State of the Nation Address (SONA) of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr on July 22, 2024 to ensure peace and order and public safety at Batasan, Quezon City as it will field hundreds of PNP personnel for Civil Disturbance Management (CDM) operation.
The 412 augmentation troops from the Regional Mobile Force Battalion and the different provincial and city police offices except Aurora and Zambales will be on stand-by and ready on call starting July 21, 2024.
Aside from the augmentation troops to be sent out, Reactionary Standby Support composed of 875 PNP personnel from all provincial and city police offices also organized on stand-by in their respective units ready to be deployed on orders as needed.
Additionally, intensified anti-criminality and focused police operations including checkpoints and chokepoints at border control are being undertaken by all police units within the region to prevent any eventualities during said event.
According to Central Luzon’s top cop PBGen Jose Hidalgo Jr., PRO3 has been sending augmentation troops during SONA and other national events as part of the overall security preparations of the PNP to guarantee that no eventualities may happen during said activities.
“Our personnel are reminded to observe ‘maximum tolerance’ and to ensure they respect the human rights of protesters as they are again expected to hold rallies when the President delivers his 3rd SONA. I have also ordered for the intensified conduct of checkpoint operations particularly along major thoroughfares to ensure the maintenance of peace and order during said event,” Hidalgo added.
The entire PNP will be placed under full alert status effective July 20, 2024, at 12:01 AM and will remain in effect pending the outcome of Monday’s national event.
Also, all permits to carry firearms outside of residence (PTCFOR) in the National Capital Region have been suspended effective 12:01 AM of July 20 to 12MN of July 22 as part of the security measures for the Chief Executive.
