CITY OF MALOLOS – The “Mother of All Fiestas” of the Province of Bulacan, the 19th Singkaban Festival kicked off with the enchanting ‘Parada ng Karosa’ held in front of the Capitol building on Monday, September 9, 2024.
Parada ng Karosa, the moving display of art, culture and history, winding its way from Malolos Cathedral Church to the Bulacan Capitol Building.
With the theme “Pagyakap sa Kasaysayan, Pagsulong sa Kinabukasan”, thousands of Bulakenyos were able to marvel at the beautifully hand-crafted floats representing the cultural richness, local artistry, and natural wonders of Bulacan where local government units and agencies came together to create these stunning displays, giving spectators a taste of the province’s vibrant heritage.
Bulacan Governor Daniel R. Fernando expressed his pride and gratitude to the local government units not only for their active participation in the Parada ng Karosa, but for their willingness to share the colorful culture and rich heritage of the province.
“Bawat karosa ay nagkukuwento ng ating mayamang kasaysayan at kultura, kasabay ng pagpapakita ng simbolo ng pagkakaisa at pagtutulungan ng mga Bulakenyo. Sa ating mga lokal na pamahalaan, ahensya, at mga institusyon, salamat sa inyong walang sawang suporta at pakikiisa sa pagpapalaganap ng ating kultura at pagpapahalaga sa ating pagka-Bulakenyo,” Fernando said.
Also, the best floats will receive cash prizes and trophies.
Parada ng Karosa is part of the week-long celebration of Singkaban Festival, a much-anticipated event that pays homage to Bulacan’s vibrant arts and culture, particularly the province’s traditional craft called
“singkaban,” or skillfully carved bamboo arches.
“Ang atin pong taunang pagdiriwang ay magpapakita ng pinaghalong tradisyunal at moderno nating nakagawian na tiyak na pupukaw sa lahat ng Bulakenyo, anumang edad o kasarian.
Sinigurado po natin na magiging inklusibo ang Singkaban Festival at magiging makabuluhan ito sa lahat ng miyembro ng ating lipunan,” the governor said.
Brfore grand opening, the InfoBooth with Roving Radio Station of the Provincial Public Affairs located at the grounds of the Provincial Cooperative and Enterprise Development Office (PCEDO) treated early visitors by capturing the memories of Singkaban through a free photo souvenir.
Also, the Tatak ng Bulakenyo Trade Fair and Kadiwa ng Pangulo sa Singkaban at the PCEDO Grounds; Dulaang Filipino Sining Bulakenyo: Ang Awit ng Dalagang Marmol in the Nicanor Abelardo Auditorium; Singkaban ng Bayan: Bulacan Tourism and Travel Fair at the Mini Forest; and Brush Strokes of Brilliance Painted Perception in the Guillermo Tolentino Exhibit Hall simultaneously commence on the same day.
Moreover, the Singkaban Festival opening day concluded through a majestic fireworks display courtesy of the Dragon Fireworks.
