Initial report from the Bulacan Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) showed that a male person drowned and at least P15.3 million worth of crops and fisheries were destroyed as Tropical Storm Paeng battered the province on Saturday, October 29.
In a situational report sent by the Bulacan PDRRMO, the drowned victim was retrieved by rescuers on Sunday morning at Sta Maria River in Barangay Sto Cristo and was reported missing since October 29. He was identified as Leo Chavez, 42, resident Barangay San Roque, City of San Jose Del Monte, Bulacan.
PDRRMO head Liz Mungcal said that 730 hectares of agriculture including rice, vegetables and fisheries were initialy destroyed.
The estimated damage for rice is P4,071,586; for vegetables is P5,990,920 and P5,333,346 for fisheries with a total of P15,395,346 where 795 farmers and fisherfolk were affected by TS “Paeng”.
TS Paeng’s rains and continued effects of high tide inundated hundreds of villages from 10 cities and municipalities of Bulacan from 1 to 6 ft of flood water.
