Obando Fertility Rites

Local officials headed by Mayor Ding Valeda (inset) and pilgrims often dressed in traditional costumes and thousands of devotees from different regions join the famous 3-day feast celebration of Obando Fertility Rites which celebrated annually in May in Obando, Bulacan where couples and others participate in the dance roots in Anitist traditions, a form of pre-colonial Filipino belief performed in the streets seeking blessings for fertility on Saturday (May 17).
According to Maria Teresa Bondoc, archivist and museum curator of the Shrine of Nuestra Señora dela Inmaculada Concepcion de Salambao, Obando town has three patron namely San Pascual Baylon, Sta Clara de Assisi and Nuestra Señora dela Inmaculada Concepcion de Salambao. Photo by ERICK SILVERIO
