NLEX Corporation has officially turned over the refurbished female barracks of the transient facility of the Northern Luzon Command (NOLCOM) of the Armed Forces of the Philippines in Tarlac City.
NLEX said on Tuesday that the facility, located inside Camp General Servillano Aquino in Tarlac City, serves as lodging for military and civilian guests who are on official or personal travel near the vicinity of the command. It was turned over last November 21, 2023.
At its own expense, NLEX has undergone repairs in the old barracks facility which involves the replacement of roof, column supports, ceiling, separate toilet & bath with complete fixtures for each room, installation of A/C units and renovation of the lobby and entrance walkway.
It was learned that NLEX worked with its partner Leighton Asia on the project.
MPTC Business Consultant and MPT Mobility Head, Rodrigo Franco, who is also the head of the Resource Planning and Generation of NOLCOM’s Multi-Sector Governance Council (MSGC), a group of leaders from different professions that serves as advisers in the implementation of the NOLCOMTransformation Roadmap, emphasizes the importance of giving assistance to the organization.
According to Franco, providing resources for the uniformed personnel allows them to focus more on maintaining peace and freedom in their area of responsibility.
“By helping NOLCOM, we are also helping our nation. Because through this, we make the command more effective in its difficult role in protecting our country,” he said.
The repair of the female barracks is the second phase of the refurbishment project being led by NLEX. In January this year, NLEX, in partnership with construction firm EEI Corporation, joined forces to renovate the male barracks (phase 1) of the facility.
Now that NLEX, together with partner construction firms have successfully completed the renovation of the transient facility, the tollway company surprised the military personnel as it announced that they will also help with the renovation of the facility chapel.
“May bahay na po ang ating mga sundalo, ngayonpagtuunan naman natin ng pansin ang bahay ng Panginoon,” said Bautista.
Lt. Gen. Buca expressed his gratitude and considered the turned over transient facility and renovation pledge as early Christmas gifts.
“Tila maagang pamasko po ito sa amin. Malaki pong tulongsa aming kasundaluhan ang ganitong kagandang facility. Sana po ay huwag kayong magsawang tumulong sa amin to further improve the facilities of NOLCOM,” he said.
NLEX believes that NOLCOM plays a vital role in maintaining peace and security in North Luzon and especially in areas being traversed by its expressway. The renovation of the transient facility is one of its ways to thank NOLCOM for their efforts and sacrifices for the people of the north.
NLEX Corporation is a subsidiary of the Metro Pacific Tollways Corporation (MPTC), the toll road arm of the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation (MPIC).
