GREETINGS from world leaders continued to pour in for President-elect Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, in a letter coursed through Japan’s Embassy in Manila, congratulated Marcos and expressed his determination to further promote cooperation between their two countries as strategic partners toward the realization of a “free and open Indo-Pacific.”
Earlier, Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison greeted Marcos via Twitter.
“I congratulate Ferdinand Marcos Jr. @bongbongmarcos on being elected President of the Philippines at the national elections on 9 May. Following the 75th anniversary of Australia-Philippines relations last year, we look forward to continuing to advance our long-standing friendship,” Morrison’s tweet read.
In a statement transmitted through its embassy in Manila, the State of Israel congratulated the Philippines for the successful conduct of the May 9 national polls.

“Israel will continue to work closely with the incoming administration of the Philippines to strengthen the friendship in agriculture, food security, water, tourism, innovation and technology, defense, among others,” it said.
China’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Zhao Lijian, on Wednesday, also commended the Philippines’ smooth conduct of elections.
“China congratulates the Philippines on the smooth presidential election. Our congratulations also go to the leading candidates. We hope and believe that various political forces in the Philippines will continue to work in solidarity for national renewal and development,” said Zhao.
The United States and the European Union have earlier sent their congratulatory remarks to Marcos.
