FORT MAGSAYSAY, NUEVA ECIJA – With the successive stories of Former Rebels benefiting from the government’s program, two of the remnants of Weakened Guerilla Front AMPIS Ilocos Cordillera Regional Committee (ICRC) are encouraged to voluntary surrender to the troops of 71st Infantry (Kaibigan) Battalion at Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte on June 02, 2022.
Surrendered personalities are identified as alyas Reden, Vice Team Leader and alyas Erold, a member both of squad dos, WGF AMPIS.
Based on their interview, alyas Reden and alyas Erold, disclosed that they left the terrorist group on the 1st quarter 2022 but were afraid to surrender. However, realizing the sincerity of the government in helping all former rebels and with their family’s encouragement, they were convinced to surrender to 71st IB in close coordination with other units of 7ID and PNP.
The Commander of 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division Major General Andrew D Costelo expressed his gratitude to 71st Infantry (Kaibigan) Battalion, 81st Infantry (Spartan) Battalion, 69th Infantry (Cougar) Battalion, 24th Infantry (Wildcat) Battalion, 2nd CMO Company and Municipal Police Provincial Office of Ilocos Norte and Ilocos Sur and also the support of Hon Rafael Ralph Benemerito, Mayor of Pagudpod for the collaborative efforts that paved way to the surrender of the two personalities.
Maj. Gen. Costelo is also grateful for the gained trust from CTG members who wants to go back to the folds of law, “Mananatiling bukas ang gobyerno sa ating mga kapatid na pagod na at gusto na ng panibagong buhay. Buong puso namin kayong tatanggapin ng walang pag-aalinlangan, gagabayan namin kayong umahon mula sa inyong pagkakalubog at tutulungan namin kayo na makapagsimula muli ng mapayapa at masayang pamumuhay kasama ang inyong pamilya.”
