FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija — The Local Government Unit of Maria Aurora led the ground breaking ceremony of a P12-million worth of farm-to-market road project in Brgy Dianawan, Diaat and Bayanihan, Maria Aurora, Aurora on Thursday, March 09.
Said ceremony was attended by the soldiers of 91st Infantry (Sinagtala) Battalion, Philippine Army (91IB) led by Lt. Col. Julito B Recto Jr., Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Provincial Director Ener Cambronero and the local brgy officials.
The road project funded through the Local Government Support Fund-Support to Barangay Development Program (SBDP) of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict will benefit the residents of the three Barangays which were once under the influence of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG).
Cambronero assured the community that the agency will continue to bring the government services closer to the people and thanked the soldiers for their Community Support Program (CSP) activities in the province that bridged the projects intended for the far-flung communities.
The implementation of the project was a result of the CSP activity of the 91IB in the said barangays which aims to bring peace and development in former conflict-affected areas in its area of operations.
Meanwhile, Maria Aurora Mayor Ariel Bitong acknowledged the sincerity of the government agencies and urged his constituents to end their support to the CTG’s massive exploitation, deception and atrocities saying, “Wala namang naidudulot na mabuti ang mga terorista. Tayong magkababayan at gobyerno ang tunay na nagtutulungan.”
Lt. Col. Julito Recto Jr., commander of 91IB said that the soldiers will continue to facilitate immediate delivery of basic services in far-flung communities hand-in-hand with partner stakeholders and agencies to address the grievances and needs of the people.
Maj. Gen. Andrew Costelo, commander of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, Philippine Army, commended the realization of the road project in Aurora as it will help uplift the economic situation of the people in the nearby communities.
The commander also urged the local officials and the community to protect the government projects against the destruction of the CTG.
“Binabati ko kayo sa pagkakaroon ng isang makabuluhang proyekto na makatutulong sa inyong pag-unlad. Nawa’y protektahan ninyo ito laban sa teroristang grupo na naglalayong sirain ang progreso na pintuatupad ng ating gobyerno,” Maj. Gen. Costelo said.
