ANGELES CITY – Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. has announced that an additional P39 million has been allocated for the ongoing construction of computer laboratories at three public schools in the city, which are set to be completed in January 2025.
Mayor Lazatin revealed this during his State of the Children’s Address today, Nov. 21, 2024 at the Angeles City Library Amphitheater.
The new laboratories will be built at Governor Rafael Lazatin Memorial High School in Balibago, Governor Rafael Lazatin Integrated School in Sapalibutad, and Malabanias Integrated School.
“An additional P39 million was allocated for the ongoing computer laboratories of Governor Rafael Lazatin Memorial High School in Balibago, Governor Rafael Lazatin Integrated School in Sapalibutad, and Malabanias Integrated School, which are set to be completed in January 2025,” Mayor Lazatin shared.
This move is part of the city’s ongoing efforts to enhance educational facilities and ensure that students have access to modern technology.
The funding for these new computer labs comes on the heels of the successful inauguration of four other computer laboratories in August 2024, including those at Angeles City National Trade School, Angeles City National High School, and Northville Integrated School.
These facilities, each equipped with 40 computers, are part of the city’s ICT Modernization Program, which aims to meet the ideal student-to-computer ratio and improve digital learning experiences.
In addition to 40 computers in each lab, the city government also provided computer tables, chairs, printers, air conditioning units, smart televisions, and fiber optics internet connection.
A total of P60 million was allocated for the recent computer lab upgrades throughout the city, in line with the city’s commitment to provide Angeleño students with the necessary tools to excel in the digital age.
To recall, it is also during the stint of Mayor Lazatin that the first-class Angeles City Library was established.
