CITY OF MALOLOS – In line with the 49th National Nutrition Month Celebration, Gov. Daniel R. Fernando encouraged the Bulakenyos to eat nutritiously and practice a healthy lifestyle, thus access to healthy and affordable food should be available to them.
With the theme, “Healthy Diet Gawing Affordable For All”, Fernando and Vic Gov. Alexis C. Castro thanked all the barangay and municipal nutrition committees in the province for conducting nutrition related activities and ensuring that these programs are being implemented year round.
In order to raise awareness among Bulakenyos, the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office has lined up activities about malnutrition prevention and promotion of healthy eating habits including Nutrition-on-Air via Kalingang Bulakenyo held last July 6 and 14, wherein the topics about First 1,000 Days and Mandatory Food Fortification were discussed over Radyo Kapitolyo and Great PGB Workout at the Capitol Compound every Friday of July in support to Kumainments No. 10 “Maging aktibo, iwasan ang pag-inom ng alak at huwag manigarilyo.”
Further, culminating activities will highlight the Search for Mutya ng Buntis 2023 via Zoom teleconferencing and Recognition and Awarding of Outstanding Municipal and Barangay Nutrition Committees, Nutrition Action Officers, Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon, Long Serving Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon and PNC Technical Working Group, and the venue is yet to be announced.
Fernando said that everyone can fight diseases and be healthy as along as long as they are eating nutritious foods and practicing a healthy lifestyle.
“Lahat po tayo ay kayang labanan ang iba’t ibang sakit at mamuhay ng malusog kung susundin po natin ang mga tamang gabay tulad ng pagkain ng masusustansiyang pagkain gaya ng gulay at prutas, pag-iwas sa paninigarilyo at pag-inom ng alak, pagkakaron ng sapat na tulog at regular na pag-ehersisyo,” the governor said.
Meanwhile, in line with the observance of National Disaster Resilience Month and 2023 National Disability Prevention and Rehabilitation Week from July 17 to 21, 408 Bulakenyos from the vulnerable sectors including persons with disabilities (PWDs) and senior citizens participated in “Orientation of Persons with Disability and Senior Citizens in Emergencies cum Basta Bulakenyo, Kahit may “K” OK!
Also, from July 17 to 23, more or less 29 beneficiaries will benefit from Harelip and Cleft Palate Operation at Baliwag District Hospital.
