Emphasizing the vital role of teachers, Fernando underscores the need to nurture appreciation for cultural heritage

CITY OF MALOLOS – Governor Daniel R. Fernando emphasized the vital role that teachers play in imparting the local history of Bulacan to today’s learners which includes fostering their appreciation and awareness of cultural heritage during the SINEliksik Bulacan Module: Pagsasanay sa Pamana event, which took place at Guiguinto Central School in Poblacion, Guiguinto, Bulacan recently.

“Mga minamahal kong mga guro, mahalaga po ang nakaatang na tungkulin sa balikat ninyo. Kayo ay instrumento para mapalawak at mapalago pa natin ang kamalayan at kaalaman ng ating mga mag-aaral sa mga pamana ng ating kasaysayan, gayundin ang gisingin at pag-alabin pa ang pagkamakabayan sa kanilang mga puso,” Rochelle Sabaybay read, representative of Fernando.

The SINEliksik Bulacan Module: Pamanang Istruktura is the second installment in a series of modules focusing on the local history and heritage of Bulacan. This module was developed in collaboration with the Provincial Government of Bulacan through PHACTO to support the DepEd divisions in Bulacan.

May Arlene Torres, the head of the History and Heritage Division at PHACTO, mentioned that 50 teachers were involved in the creation of this module and they served as writers, drafters, and editors under the guidance of their Araling Panlipunan Supervisor and management of her division.

Dr. Jaime B. Veneracion oversaw the editorial process, ensuring the quality of the content and these modules are intended to be utilized in schools across the province to educate students about the rich history and heritage of Bulacan.

Education Program Supervisor, Ma. Leonora Cruz of DepEd City of Meycauayan, along with the writers and company, expressed their gratitude to Fernando and Vice Gov. Alexis C. Castro for providing the opportunity to develop modules that aim to instill patriotism in students and introduce innovative ways to incorporate topics on local history and heritage structures into the AP classroom.

The Pamana Module will be implemented for secondary school students in the province. The first module, the Bayani Module, is currently being utilized for elementary school students in the province.

During the training session for teachers, various historical structures in Bulacan were discussed by a group of knowledgeable facilitators including Jonalyn A. Ginga, who led the discussion on the Simbahan ng Meycauayan, while John Revin V. de Jesus shared insights on the Simboryo ng Quingua; Sara Marie B. Baria delved into the history of the Himpilang Daang-Bakal ng Guiguinto, and Raymart B. Guinto provided information on the Simbahan ng Barasoain; Lawrence A. Dela Cruz discussed the Kapitolyo ng Bulacan, and Lope A. Garado was scheduled to cover the topics on Tahanan ni Alberta Uitangcoy.

Furthermore, certificates of appreciation were presented to the writers, lay out artists, and module contributors who participated in the event.
