CLARK FREEPORT — The Clark Triathlon Classic race, organized by GoClark Sports & Events, was held on April 16 at Fontana Leisure Parks, drawing multi-sport enthusiasts from both local and international locations, and promising an exciting display of athletic prowess and endurance.
At the recent triathlon event, the athletes were offered two classic distance categories: sprint and full. Both categories were designed to challenge the participants endurance and perseverance.
The race kicked off with a swim leg of either 350m or 700m, depending on the chosen category. After completing the swim, the competitors had to tackle a grueling bike ride of either 20k or 40k. And, finally, the race concluded with a demanding run of either 3.5k or 7k. The triathletes had to draw on all their physical and mental strength to complete the three stages of the competition and emerge victorious.
Rhia Stawicki emerged as the winner in the elite female group, crossing the finish line with an impressive time of 2:01:13. Kriska Sto Domingo and Mitch Otsuru-Park finished closely behind, completing the race in 2:18:26 and 2:19:36, respectively.
Raymund Gerard Velasco took the top spot in the elite male group, completing the race in an outstanding 1:56:57. Rolando Alquero and Reynante Briones followed closely behind, finishing in 2:05:22 and 2:06:06, respectively.
“The Clark Triathlon Classic race 2023 was an extraordinary event that showcased the dedication and perseverance of the athletes who participated. The success of the event was due to the tireless efforts of our sponsors, organizers, and volunteers, who worked together to ensure its success,” said Abe Tayag, director of GoClark Sports & Events.

Italian guest athlete Gian Luca Faccin made his triathlon debut at the Clark Triathlon Classic race in 2023 and shared his satisfaction with the event’s impeccable organization.
“I had a fantastic time at the event. It was very well-organized, and the friendly atmosphere made the experience even better. The scenic bike and running routes immersed us in nature, making it a truly satisfying experience. And I highly recommend everyone to come and enjoy everything that Clark has to offer,” Faccin said.
World champion multi-sport athlete Don Bozarth, who is 76 years old, was happy to be back in the Philippines, a country that, according to him, is close to his heart.
“I actually live in the Philippines, I have lived all over the world, including Australia and the United States, but the Philippines is one of my favorite places,” Bozarth said.
The triathlon event was sponsored by Finis Philippines as the official swim partner, which provided the athletes with high-quality swim gear. Vitargo, the official hydration partner, supplied the necessary nutrition and hydration to the athletes during the race, while Garmin Philippines served as the official timing partner, providing accurate timing for each athlete, ensuring the smooth running of the race.
