Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region III Director Roseller Tolentino emphasized the significance of continuous improvement within the Quality Management System (QMS) during the opening meeting of the Internal Quality Audit (IQA) for the Regional Office’s processes on September 4, 2024.
The audit, conducted from September 4-6 under the guidance of Lead Auditor Armand Mauricio, began with an initial meeting where the objectives and scope were clearly outlined to key officials and QMS Core Team leaders, establishing a focused direction for the review process.
Tolentino further stressed the importance of adhering to the ISO 9001:2015 standard through internal audits, emphasizing that the agency must be well-versed in third-party audit requirements to ensure comprehensive compliance and readiness for external evaluations.
Adding to this, Assistant Regional Director Melquiades Sto. Domingo remarked on the significant role of the IQA in evaluating the effectiveness of the agency’s QMS, noting that regular IQAs are essential for identifying areas for improvement and reinforcing the agency’s systems and procedures.
The audit concluded with a closing meeting where Mauricio presented the preliminary findings, which will undergo further review and discussion by other auditors within Region III and the Overall QMS Secretariat to ensure thorough evaluation and accurate reporting.
