DPWH Pampanga 1st DEO conducts blood donation drive

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Pampanga 1st District Engineering Office (DEO) held a Blood Donation Drive on November 5, 2024, at the Office Multi-Purpose Building, organized by the SAMAhan ng mga KAwaning NAgkakaisa (SAMAKANA) in coordination with the Jose B. Lingad Memorial General Hospital (JBL).

District Engineer Almer Miranda, Assistant District Engineer Alfie Lejarde, and SAMAKANA President Engr. Kristine Dizon led the initiative to support JBL, collecting a total of 46 blood bags, with seventy percent allocated for patient use and the remaining reserved for office employees’ future needs.

Miranda emphasized the health benefits of donating blood, including strengthening the immune system, improving heart health, balancing iron levels, and reducing cancer risk.

“It is our duty to protect not only the office but also its members. Blood donation benefits health and can lower the risk of cancer. To all donors, thank you for considering others,” Miranda stated.

Moreover, Lejarde highlighted the positive impact of good health on employee mood, socialization, and productivity, noting that a healthy mind and body encourage positive actions and productivity, contributing to a conducive working environment.

The blood donation drive was facilitated by Dr. Carl Dustin Cruz and Dr. Bethany Joy Ramos from the JBL Blood Bank, with Medical Technologists Paula David, Dave Gutierrez, Norman Silva, and Jaicen Capulong.
