The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineering Office (DEO) officially opened its 2025 District Sportsfest with a symbolic cauldron lighting, led by Architect Ireneo Valino of the Planning and Design Section, signaling the start of basketball and volleyball competitions.
OIC – Assistant District Engineer Leonora Cruz presided over the ceremony, which kicked off weeks of friendly competition that promote teamwork and a healthy work environment.
In her speech, she highlighted the sportsfest’s role in strengthening professional and personal relationships by encouraging collaboration both on and off the field.
The opening celebration featured a parade of participating teams and their muses, followed by a women’s volleyball match that officially launched the sporting events and set the tone for the competition.
Throughout the sportsfest, two men’s and two women’s volleyball teams, along with six basketball teams, will compete for championship titles.#
