District Engineer Roderick Andal reported that the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) completed P223.3-million worth of infrastructure projects in Aurora province during the first half of the year, aimed at improving accessibility and protecting communities from water-related hazards.
The projects, implemented by the Aurora District Engineering Office (DEO), include a new bridge in Barangay Ibona, Dingalan; a road leading to Dibutunan Falls in Dipaculao; and a flood control structure in Casiguran.
“These completed projects have enhanced local transportation and improved flood protection for communities. The new P135-million Ibona Bridge and the P39.2-million road to Dibutunan Falls were key priorities for both the DPWH and Aurora Lone Representative Rommel Angara,” Andal said.
The 120-lineal meter Ibona Bridge, featuring a 217-lineal meter Approach A, a 124-lineal meter Approach B, and flood control structures on both sides to protect against flooding, will enhance connectivity to top tourism spots in the town, including Tabi Falls and Umiray Beach.
In addition to the bridge, the road project in Barangay Dibutunan spans 1.440 kilometers and includes concrete pavement, box culverts for drainage, grouted riprap for erosion control, and stone masonry for added stability.
“Another significant project is the 266.10-lineal meter concrete slope protection structure along Kasalogan River in Barangay Culat. Built on a steel sheet pile foundation to stabilize the riverbank and prevent erosion, this structure also includes concrete pavement ramps to provide residents with access to the river,” Andal noted.
These projects, funded through last year’s national budget, reflect the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and ensuring community resilience in Aurora province.
