To aid in strengthening the capacity of local communities to support basic education, the Department of Public Works and Highways-Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineering Office has completed the construction of two elementary school buildings in the towns of Jaen and San Leonardo in Nueva Ecija.
According to Nueva Ecija 2nd District Engineer Elpidio Y. Trinidad, the new 2-storey, 8-classroom buildings that were built at Jaen West Elementary School and San Anton Elementary School will be used in case the government allow students to physically attend school.
“Despite the lack of face-to-face classes, our office continues to construct school buildings to support the return of students once the situation improves. And in case physical classes are allowed to be held, we are one with the Department of Education in ensuring that our students are provided with a safe and secure learning environment,” DE Trinidad stated.
The P45.41 million elementary school buildings were constructed by DPWH in coordination with the Department of Education (DepEd) through funding from the Basic Education Facilities Fund (BEFF). (Source: DPWH Nueva Ecija District 2)
