Though newly created, the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Bataan Sub (3rd) District Engineering Office (DEO) actively participates in school outreach programs organized by the Department of Education (DepEd) and the District Engineers’ League of the Philippines (DELP) on August 15, 2023, at the Payangan Integrated School in Dinalupihan.
“School outreach programs are our way of bringing our resources into the classrooms and developing deeper relationships with the communities under our area of responsibility,” OIC – District Engineer Maribel D. Navarro said.
These programs included DepEd’s “Balik-Eskwela 2023″ and DELP’s “Gamit Pang-Eskwela Handog ay Saya” initiatives, which brought together members of the local community, educators, and DPWH Bataan Sub (3rd) DEO Section Chiefs and staff, with the primary objective of supporting indigenous students with essential school supplies and foster a sense of joy and enthusiasm for learning.
Navarro, in her statement, emphasized the significance of education and community engagement, saying, “Education is the key to a brighter future, and it is our collective responsibility to ensure that every child has access to quality education. By participating in the ‘Balik-Eskwela 2023’ and ‘DELP Gamit Pang-Eskwela Handog ay Saya’ programs, we aim to contribute to the holistic development of these young minds and inspire them to reach their full potential.”
Meanwhile, OIC-Assistant District Engineer Henry John U. Morada expressed confidence that this year’s Brigada Eskwela reflects the spirit of community and cooperation, making schools the best places for learners to acquire essential values and competencies, and commended the commitment and hard work that consistently betters the school, aligning with DepEd’s goal of providing quality, accessible, relevant, and liberating education for all.
“Keep in mind that education is a journey that never truly ends. Stay curious, be resilient, and embrace opportunities for growth that each day in school brings. Let us continue to support and nurture our educational institutions as they mold the future of our children. Here’s to a successful and enriching Balik Eskwela for all of us!”, Morada commented.
During the event, the district office distributed school bags and supplies, including notebooks, pencils, umbrellas, and other learning materials to the indigenous students. Additionally, they provided food packs and made a cash donation for the school’s feeding program.
Engr. Katrina M. Lacanlale, Procurement Unit Head, who led and prepared fun games, noted that the smiling faces of the students reflected the joy and gratitude they felt for the support they received, and she also mentioned that they had prepared lunch packs enjoyed by the students, creating an atmosphere of camaraderie and celebration.
The ‘Balik-Eskwela 2023’ and DELP ‘Gamit Pang-Eskwela Handog ay Saya’ programs symbolize DPWH Bataan Sub (3rd) DEO’s dedication to positively impacting students’ lives, enhancing educational access, and spreading joy to nurture a brighter future for the youth of Dinalupihan.#(DPWH BATAAN SUB DPAIU)
