DPWH Bataan 3rd DEO brings joy to IP learners in Bayan-Bayanan ES

The first day of classes in Bayan-Bayanan Elementary School was filled with joy and enthusiasm as personnel from the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Bataan 3rd District Engineering Office (DEO) conducted an outreach program to distribute gifts and engage students in game-based learning.

District Engineer Maribel Navarro and Assistant District Engineer Henry John Morada, along with the office Section Chiefs and other employees, led the initiative, providing bags, notebooks, pencils, papers, umbrellas, food packs, and toys.

In addition, Navarro underscored the importance of this activity in boosting the morale of students as a way to improve their academic performance and achievements.

“We hope that this effort will help students feel more supported and motivated in their studies. Additionally, this activity aims to encourage more enrollees from IP communities like Barangay Bayan-Bayanan and to eliminate discrimination and social exclusion against them,” Navarro emphasized.

Meanwhile, Morada explained that Bayan-Bayanan ES was selected as the beneficiary because it serves the highest number of students from indigenous groups among the schools in the province’s 3rd legislative district.

School Principal Maria Jesusa Aguilar Daria expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the Bataan 3rd DEO for their support, noting that the resources provided will greatly benefit the students and enhance the learning environment.

“Itong activity na ito, siguradong magiging motivation sa ating indigenous students. Ito po ay makatutulong din para mawala ‘yung pagiging shy nila, na nagiging mas open sila sa mga taong nakakasalamuha nila, na nakikita nilang binibigyan sila ng pagpapahalaga,” Daria stated.

The activity was conducted by DPWH Bataan 3rd DEO in support of the Department of Education’s (DepEd) Oplan Balik Eskwela 2024 program.
