DPWH 1st DEO ensures employees health, get anti-flu vaccine

In a joint effort between the Municipal Health Office of Talavera and the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) – Nueva Ecija 1st District Engineering Office (DEO), an anti-flu vaccination drive was held on January 27, 2025.
The initiative, part of the Department of Health’s (DOH) Expanded Program on Immunization (EPI), aimed to reduce the spread of influenza and prevent flu-related illnesses, with approximately 200 district employees receiving the vaccine.
During the pre-vaccination briefing, healthcare professional Arianne Casimiro emphasized that the flu vaccine is mandatory for all employees, with exemptions for those who have recently received vaccines like anti-rabies or Hepatitis B, or who have not met the required 28-day interval since their last shot.
“Nagbabakuna po tayo sa mga senior citizen, mga empleyado, at iba pang nangangailangan ng flu vaccination upang tayo’y maprotektahan sa ating pagtatrabaho, lalo na po sa mga opisina na pwedeng magkahawahan dahil naka-aircon,” Casimiro stressed.
OIC-District Engineer Jun Vana noted that the program not only safeguards employee health but also supports a healthier, more efficient workforce.
“We are grateful to the DOH for their continued support. These free vaccines contribute to a healthier workforce and improved public service,” Vana said.
EPI is a global initiative launched by the World Health Organization (WHO) to provide vaccines for diseases like measles, polio, Hepatitis B, and influenza, aiming to protect vulnerable groups and reduce outbreaks.
