Despite Injuries, PRO3 Police Hold the Line for Peace in Mendiola

Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — Guided by the 7 Focus Agenda of the Acting Chief PNP, PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., particularly on the management of all activities and events at all levels, and crowd control, police personnel from Central Luzon (PRO3) stood firm in Mendiola to ensure peace and order amid heightened tensions during a mass action. Despite some PRO3 officers sustaining injuries after protesters turned unruly, they remained resolute in maintaining calm and security on the ground.
Authorities said the protest, which began peacefully, escalated when certain participants engaged in disruptive acts that posed risks to civilians and law enforcers. Despite the disorder, PRO3 officers held the line to prevent further escalation and safeguard the public.
Police Regional Office 3 Director, PBGEN Ponce Rogelio I Peñones Jr, emphasized that the men and women of PRO3 remain committed to the PNP’s core directives.
“In line with the 7 Focus Agenda of the Acting Chief PNP, PLTGEN Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr., we assure the public that PRO3 personnel will continue to exercise maximum tolerance. While some of our personnel have sustained injuries, our call to the public remains the same: let us remain calm, respect the rights of others, and conduct assemblies in a safe and peaceful manner. Cooperation from everyone is vital to preserve order and protect the welfare of all,” the Regional Director said.
He reiterated that PRO3 will always uphold the people’s constitutional right to expression and peaceful assembly, but will not hesitate to act when laws are violated or public safety is at risk.
Even as unrest arose and PRO3 officers sustained injuries, Central Luzon cops remain resolute in holding the line in Mendiola, reaffirming their commitment to peace, discipline, and community partnership in accordance with the 7 Focus Agenda of PLTGEN Nartatez Jr.
