CITY OF MALOLOS – The Province of Bulacan once again proved why it is a tourism gem worth celebrating after being named Finalist in the Best Tourism Destination – Provincial Category at the 1st Philippine Tourism Awards (PTA) held at Okada Manila, Pasay City last September 8.
The recognition comes at a meaningful time, as the awarding coincides with the opening of the weeklong Singkaban Festival, the Mother of All Festivals of Bulacan, making the celebration even more significant for Bulakenyos.
On behalf of Governor Daniel R. Fernando, Angelica Joy Quiroz of the Provincial History, Arts, Culture, and Tourism Office (PHACTO) received the award from Department of Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco.
In her keynote message, the tourism secretary said that the historic PTA honored those who have raised the standards of industry and proven that Filipino hospitality is its gift to the world.
“You are the bearers of the good of our country, showing through your work, your compassion, your creativity, and your grace that you are the true face of the Philippine tourism. Your triumph is not yours alone, for it is also the triumph of the communities you uplift and the lives that you transform,” Sec. Frasco said.
Adding to the pride, Erwin “Tsunami” R. Valenzuela of Baliwag, Bulacan, was also named Finalist in the Regional Tour Guide Category, further proving Bulakenyos’ excellence in championing tourism experiences.
The historic inaugural PTA brought together the country’s best tourism enterprises, local government units, and stakeholders to honor those who have transformed Philippine tourism through decades of service excellence.
