CLARK FREEPORT ZONE —The Clark International Airport Corp. (CIAC) was cited as among the top performing government-owned and -controlled corporations in the country during the Annual Governance Commission for GOCCs (GCG) Awards Ceremony held recently in Manila.
CIAC President and CEO Jojit Alcazar received the award from Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin during the ceremony where the CIAC was cited for being among the top ten GOCCs based on the GCG’s Corporate Governance Scorecard and Performance Evaluation System.
The evaluation system is the process of appraising the accomplishments of GOCCs in a given fiscal year based on a set of performance criteria, targets, and weights reported in a performance scorecard.
Alcazar, who was accompanied by CIAC Chief Finance Officer Nancy Paglinawan and Chief Operations Officer Brando Aguilera, said the award affirms the CIAC’s collective efforts to achieve corporate excellence and its targets.
“This citation will drive CIAC further to realize the seven flagship projects of the Clark Aviation Capital as the country’s aviation-centric business center under the Marcos administration and the One Clark vision,” Alcazar said.
GCG Chairperson Atty. Marius Corpus emphasized to the audience of about 400 guests composed of officials from the executive branch, GOCCs, national government agencies, and institutional partners, that “GOCCs remain steadfast in fulfilling (their) commitment to the people they serve. In fulfillment of their significant growth, GOCCs are cornerstone institutions that support inclusive growth, promote social welfare and ensure service delivery.”
As the premier aviation and land development arm of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA), CIAC manages the 2,367-hectare Clark Aviation Capital primed to be the country’s aviation-centric business center. It is also tasked by the Department of Transportation (DOTr) to exercise oversight functions over the operations of the Clark International Airport.
The GCG, created under Republic Act (RA) No. 10149 or the GOCC Governance Act of 2011 is the central policy-making and regulatory body mandated to ensure the operations of GOCCs are transparent and responsive to the needs of the public.
