CITY OF MALOLOS — Rains dumped by the southwest monsoon have caused Bustos Dam to release excess water while the water level in Angat Dam elevated slightly.
Retired police Col. Manuel Lukban Jr., provincial disaster risk reduction management office (PDRRMO) officer in charge, said Bustos Dam water elevation as of 7:00 am on Sunday was at 17.40 meter compared to its spilling level of 17.00 meter.
The dam’s Sluice Gate 1 and Sluice Gate 2 have both been raised at 1.5 meter high and have been discharging a total of 78 cubic meter per second of water on its downstream river system, Lukban noted.
Lukban added that as of noontime on Sunday there were no villages reported inundated by floodwater in the province and the flooded portions along Mac Arthur Highway were probably caused by overflowing drainages.
PDRRMO records showed that the water elevation of Angat Dam as of 8:00 am on Sunday was at 179.14 meter that is higher by 0.58 meter from the 178.56 meter on Saturday.
