Bulacan SM malls join Q3 nationwide earthquake drill simulation

SM malls in Marilao, Baliwag, and Pulilan actively participated in the third quarter nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill (NSED) on September 26.
SM City Marilao’s Emergency Response Team (SMERT) quickly responds to the mock-up trauma victim during the earthquake drill simulation.
SM City Marilao led the earthquake drill observed by the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Bulacan Provincial Fire Marshall FSSUPT (Atty.) Ernesto S. Pagdanganan, together with PNP Marilao PEMS Noli S. Albis and Marilao MDRRMO Assistant Head Dorothy Bonifacio.
Staged at exactly 9 a.m., various crisis scenarios of a 7.2-magnitude earthquake were presented in SM City Marilao. Evacuation and rescue drill simulations were carried out to increase and strengthen the mall’s Emergency Response Team’s preparedness and coordination among tasked units.
SM City Baliwag and SM Center Pulilan also took part in the nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill with a series of quick emergency response activities that include carrying out first aid procedures for projected situations such as severely injured victims and setting up an emergency command center and communication system.
On top of the nationwide simultaneous earthquake drill, FSSUPT (Atty.) Ernesto S. Pagdanganan also conducted a lecture on earthquake preparedness attended by SM employees, agency personnel, tenants, and affiliates.
Topics like worst-case scenarios during earthquakes, evacuation routes, first aid treatment, and contingency plans were discussed.
