CITY OF MALOLOS – As one of the People’s Agenda 10 of Governor Daniel Fernando, the implementation of universal health care in Bulacan has been efficient and effective thus outstanding local government units and several individuals were recognized in the field of nutrition coinciding the culminating activity of the monthlong celebration of the 48th Nutrition Month.
Provincial Administrator Antonette Constantino on Sunday said, winners in the municipality levels have implemented the best nutrition programs for their constituents hence made them winners for ‘Natatanging Bayan sa Nutrisyon’ category including the town of Guiguinto that won first place and took home P100,000; Marilao got the second place with P75,000 cash prize and Baliwag town at third place with P50,000 cash prize. All of them received plaques of recognition.
She said, communities or barangays in the province also showcased their nutrition programs and the winners for ‘Natatanging Barangay sa Nutrisyon’ include Brgy. San Jose, Paombong – first place and took home P30,000 cash prize; Brgy. Lias, Marilao – second place with P20,000 cash prize and Brgy. San Agustin, San Rafael – third place with P10,000 cash prize and plaques of recognition each. Also, nineteen barangays received consolation prizes worth P3,000 each.
Moreover, individuals who have shown outstanding services to their communities relevant to implementing nutrition programs were also given awards including Josefina J. Joaquin from Guiguinto, Bulacan who won the ‘Natatanging Municipal Nutrition Action Officer’ award and Imelda Lopez from Brgy. San Jose, Paombong who was hailed ‘Natatanging Lingkod Lingap sa Nutrisyon’ award. Both received P5,000 cash prize while 21 other LLNs received consolation prizes worth P2,000 each.
Miguela Avendaño from Brgy. Masuso, Pandi and Ofelia De Belen from Brgy. Bagong Barrio, San Ildefonso received P3,000 each for being awarded as the ‘Long Serving Lingkod Lingap sa Nayon’.
Three employees of the PGB namely Reynela Mae Abayon from Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Mary Jane Sarboda from Bulacan Environment and Natural Resources Office and Maria Cronica De Jesus from Provincial Public Affairs Office were also recognized for the ‘Long Serving Technical Working Group’ category with P5,000 cash prize each.
Fernando, who is the chairman of the Provincial Nutrition Council, highlighted the importance of nutrition and encouraged everyone to participate and help promote the nutrition programs being implemented by the Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office.
