CITY OF MALOLOS – The Provincial Government of Bulacan through the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAO) once again bagged the Excellence Award as the Most Outstanding Province in Luzon under the Large-scale Award Category bestowed by the Department of Agriculture (DA)-Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) during the RCEF Awards Recognition of Partners last February 8, 2024 at the DA-Philippine Research Institute Central Experiment Station, Science City of Muñoz, Nueva Ecija.
Headed by Provincial Agriculturist Ma. Gloria SF. Carillio, the province earned the recognition for their prominent role in implementing the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund – Seed Program through their effective seed delivery and distribution targets during both the 2023 Wet and 2024 Dry Seasons.
In his message, Governor Daniel R. Fernando emphasized the weight of complying with DA programs, which acts as a tool in boosting the competitiveness and income of rice farmers in Bulacan.
“Sa pagpapalakas ng sektor ng agrikultura, hindi lamang natin pinapalakas ang ekonomiya ng Bulacan, nagsisilbi rin itong instrumento upang mabigyan ng sapat na suporta ang mga magsasakang Bulakenyo. Ang kanilang dedikasyon at sipag ang nagbigay-buhay sa lalawigang may masiglang agrikultura at masaganang ani para sa ating mga kababayan,” the governor said.
On August 2022, the Province of Bulacan was conferred a Special Citation Award by the DA-PhilRice after achieving 100% of the seed delivery target in the province and cumulative distribution rate of 98%.
