CITY OF MALOLOS – Highlighting Bulacan’s rich and vibrant culture, Bulakenyos showcased their cultural heritage including foods, architecture, and dance as the Department of Tourism (DOT) Secretary Christina Garcia Frasco visited the province for the Central Luzon Leg of the Philippine Experience Program: Cultural, Heritage, and Arts Caravan last Saturday, December 14, at La Consolacion University – Barasoain Campus here.
With the theme “Experience Central Luzon, Experience PaskongPinoy,” the event was attended by foreign ambassadors from Thailand and Vietnam, local dignitaries, diplomats, and DOT regional directors across the country who were welcomed through a heritage tour in the historical streets of Pariancillio in the city.
Maria Paz Alberto, president of the Pacific Asia Travel Association Philippines Chapter, emphasized in her message the importance of immersing oneself to discover the real beauty of the Philippines.
“For us Filipinos to be able to discover the beauty of our country, it’s not just about the beauty but also being immersed in the culture of our fellow Filipinos,” she said.
Meanwhile, Provincial Administrator Antonia V. Constantino, representing Governor Daniel R. Fernando, said that the province is aiming to strengthen its tourism in order to create more job opportunities for Bulakenyos and to promote positive transformation beneficial to programs like this.
“We aim to strengthen tourism for job and career opportunities. Bulacan is rich in natural resources, cultural heritage such as the food, its architecture, the legacy that you can see from the people. We want to promote positive transformation that will benefit all through programs like this, and together we can determine the right steps for a better future,” Constantino said.
Also present in the event were Congressman Ambrosio Cruz, Jr., City of Malolos Mayor Atty. Christian Natividad and Vice Mayor Miguel Alberto Bautista.
