Brgy official clears landfill facility in Porac

The EcoProtect Management Corporation (EPMC), operator of the landfill facility located in Barangay Mancatian, Porac, Pampanga, has reportedly not violated any environmental and sanitation issues.
This was revealed after an inspection and verification was conducted by barangay officials of Brgy Mancatian at the said facility.
In a letter sent by Barangay Mancatian Chairman Edilberto Layug to Porac Acting Mayor Francis Laurence Tamayo, he confirmed that EPMC is “fully compliant” with all the issues raised by residents.
The concerns, which included environmental risks and sanitation practices, were thoroughly investigated by the barangay council.
Following the inspection, officials found that EPMC had taken all necessary steps to address the problems.
Chairman Layug stated that the company responded promptly and implemented corrective measures in line with barangay standards.
“The establishment acted in good faith and resolved the matter according to the standards set by the barangay,” Layug said in his letter.
He also acknowledged the cooperation shown by EPMC during the resolution process.
The Barangay Council of Mancatian formally recognized EPMC’s efforts to correct the issues and expressed appreciation for the company’s commitment to maintaining safe and responsible operations in the community.
With the complaints resolved, barangay officials say no further action is needed at this time.
EPMC continues to operate under the monitoring of local authorities to ensure compliance with environmental and sanitation guidelines.
Prior to this, an environmental group has called for the immediate suspension of operations at EPMC landfill, fearing that serious structural risks and public health hazards may result in an imminent environmental disaster with the onset of the rainy season.
