FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija – Barangay Health Workers (BHW) and soldiers from the 70th Infantry (70IB) (Matapat at Matatag) Battalion of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, Philippine Army conducted malnutrition prevention efforts and monitoring of the Body Mass Index (BMI) of children ages 5 to 6 years-old at Sitio Bangkal, Barangay San Mateo, Norzagaray, Bulacan last October 12, 2022.
Troops of 70IB led by Private First Class Robert JK Rabbaca provided manpower assistance to the volunteer BHWs in monitoring height and weight of 35 children in San Mateo to determine appropriate action to address the needs of underweight or malnourished children.
The volunteer BHWs of San Mateo expressed their gratitude to soldiers for their efforts of giving assistance to the community in the fight against malnutrition that affects the children in the said barangay.
Lieutenant Colonel Ronnel B Dela Cruz, Commanding Officer of 70IB lauded the troops for collaborating with the BHWs of San Mateo in the effort to avoid malnutrition in the local community.
Meanwhile, Major General Andrew D Costelo, Commander of 7ID said, “Kaugnay Division and our line units down to every foot soldier are committed in assisting local authorities in providing much needed services and addressing the needs of local communities within the area of responsibility of the 7ID”.
