TARLAC CITY — Bases Conversion and Development Authority (BCDA) inspected the ongoing construction of facilities for Army Support Command (ASCOM) inside Camp Aquino in Tarlac recently.
This is in line with the formal turnover on March 7.
“Over the years, BCDA has worked closely with Department of National Defense and Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) to realize the concept of modern ASCOM logistics facilities,” BCDA Vice President for Public Affairs Leilani Barlongay-Macasaet said.
She underscored BCDA’s desire to help the uniformed personnel through the provision of modernized logistical facilities beneficial to the performance of their duties.
Macaset checked on structures, which are included on the project development plan such as multiple headquarter facilities, officers’ quarters, barracks, a warehouse, student classrooms, and transportation and maintenance battalion.
Meanwhile, Northern Luzon Command Commander Lieutenant General Ernesto Torres Jr. emphasized the contribution of BCDA in the national development through the transformation of old military bases into economic growth and development hubs.
“With our current thrust towards AFP’s Modernization Program, BCDA has been one of our generous stakeholders who continues to help our armed forces perform their mission as protectors of the people and the country by providing facilities and improving capabilities for the enhancement of our operations,” he said.
The transfer of ASCOM facilities to a 29.8-hectare lot inside Camp Aquino is expected to boost the unit’s capabilities to carry out its mission and functions.
