CAMP GEN ALEJO S SANTOS, City of Malolos, Bulacan — Operating army squad from 80th Infantry Battalion (IB), Philippine Army (PA) recovered firearms and explosives following an encounter against members of the Communist New People’s Army Terrorist (CNTs) in Sitio Sapang Munti, Brgy. San Mateo, Norzagaray, Bulacan last August 13 at about 11:25 a.m
In reports to the Acting Provincial Director PCol Charlie Cabradilla, an encounter ensued between one (1) infantry squad from A/80IB against more or less (MOL) five (5) CNTs believed to be members of Pltn 1 (SDG), KLG Narciso, SRMA 4A, STRPC at Sitio Sapang Munti, Brgy. San Mateo, Norzagaray last Saturday morning.
The soldiers conducting security operations engaged the group of CNTs that lasted for about 5 minutes. The enemy scampered towards the North East direction. Blood trails were also found at the encounter site, indicating that some of the rebels were wounded in the firefight.
The soldiers seized High-powered firearm: one (1) Assault Rifle, 5.56mm: M16 with one (1) short magazine and nine (9) rounds of 5.56mm ammunitions; Low-powered firearms: one (1) 9mm pistol with two (2) magazines with 18 rounds of ammunition; one (1) .45 caliber pistol with two (2) magazines and 27 rounds of ammunitions; High Explosives: two (2) hand grenades, two (2) backpacks containing subversive documents, and other personal belongings owned by the group.
Further, no casualties on the side of the government troops and from the side of the CNT’s.
Bulacan PNP with strong partnership with 80IB PA will continuously and relentlessly intensify its internal security operations against the Communist-Terrorist Groups (CTGs) to ensure that communities are safe from the threat groups.
