FORT MAGSAYSAY, Nueva Ecija – A composite team of Army and Police from 702nd Infantry (Defender) Brigade, Philippine Army and Ilocos Sur Provincial Police Office arrested a top-ranking member of the Communist Terrorist Group (CTG) operating in northern Luzon in Brgy Macabiag, Sinait, Ilocos Sur last Sunday, March 26, 2023.
Authorities identified the top CTG personality as Casimiro Binayon alias “Rigor/Peter”, a member of the Executive Committee of Ilocos-Cordillera Regional Committee and a former Secretary of dismantled Komiteng Larangang Guerrilla FUGAO.
Binayon was arrested by virtue of a warrant of arrest with Criminal Case Number 2017-2019 and 2023-2026 for Murder and Frustrated Murder.
Major General Andrew D. Costelo, commander of the 7th Infantry (Kaugnay) Division, Philippine Army lauded the productive operation and dedicated efforts of army and police with the support from the local folks of the community.
MAj. Gen. Costelo assured that troops will intensify law enforcement support operation with police counterparts to dismantle the remaining CTG groups and arrest terrorists in order to protect the people.
“Ang pagkakahuli ni Binayon ay isang pagpapatunay na hindi tayo tumitigil hangga’t hindi nahuhuli at napapanagot sa batas ang mga miyembro ng teroristang grupo na walang ibang ginawa kundi mang abuso at magpalamon sa maling ideolohiya. Nagpapasalamat din tayo sa komunidad sa kanilang walang humpay na suporta upang makamit ang kapayapaan at kaunlaran,” Maj. Gen. Costelo said.
