CITY OF MALOLOS — Angat Dam has recently reduced its irrigation allocation for the National Irrigation Administration (NIA).
A Bustos Dam personnel has confirmed that irrigation allocation coming from Angat Dam was suspended since August 14 this year.
On the other hand, reports reaching Josephine Salazar, NIA Region 3 director, said Irrigation allocation from Angat Dam can be requested and can be reduced based on the rainfalls brought by prevailing weather conditions.
Records from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office of Bulacan showed that the water elevation of Angat Dam, the primary source of drinking water for Metro Manila, as of Wednesday morning was at 177.36 meter which is 2.64 meters below it’s critical lev beel of 180 meter.
Liza Sacdalan, president of the irrigation association in Plaridel-Guiguinto towns. said Bulacan farmers are hoping that the water elevation of Angat Dam can reach its ideal water level before the year’s end so that irrigation supply for the coming summer cropping season can be provided by NIA.
