Angeleña beauties aged 18 to 24 years old from the city’s villages can now showcase their beauty, elegance, and confidence through the inter-barangay Reyna de las Flores or Queen of Flowers competition to be held on May 21, 2023.
This is the first-ever Reyna de las Flores or Queen of Flowers tilt to be hosted by the city government under the administration of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. with a grand cash prize of ₱100,000.
Inclusive to the festival is a contest of locally designed gowns for the famous ‘Santacruzan’ parade which will conclude the celebration.
Mayor Lazatin said that commemorating the festival will be an avenue for Angeleños to showcase their prowess in designing local garments as well as to promote the flower industry of the city.
“We are one with our Christian brothers and sisters in offering beautiful flowers to the blessed Virgin Mary,” Lazatin added.
The Working Committee for the said inter-barangay contest will be led by Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel with the Angeles City Tourism Office headed by Anneleen Antonio-Sugui and organizer Rommel ‘Poklong’ Guina.
According to Manuel, the 33 barangays may submit their participants’ form to the City Tourism Office.
These participants, which will have a maximum of 3 per barangay, will be screened first by the committee.
City Tourism Officer Antonio-Sugui said the official participants shall have their gowns made by local artists/designers.
The guidelines, Guina explained, once finalized, will be posted at the Angeles City Tourism Office Facebook page.
