Angeles City Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. said five buses are on standby for the city hall workers and the public in case the “Tigil Pasada” nationwide transport strike pushes through beginning on October 16, 2023.
Mayor Lazatin said five Philippine Rabbit buses will be readied in strategic areas in Angeles City to ferry the riding public for free in case of a transport strike.
The free ride will begin from 5 AM to 12 midnight, following five routes — Cutud-Sapang Maisac boundary; Balibago-Dau boundary; Cutcut-Porac boundary; Sto. Domingo-San Fernando boundary; and Mining-Malino boundary.
The nationwide transport strike is poised to be held starting on October 16, 2023 by transport group MANIBELA, to protest against the government’s public utility vehicle (PUV) modernization program which they said would affect the livelihood of public utility drivers.
Meanwhile, Mayor Lazatin has encouraged City Hall employees to “practice carpooling” in anticipation of the nationwide strike.
