ANGELES CITY — The city government here under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin Jr. will launch a 5-day “Suyod Bakuna, Bakunahan sa Tahanan” program via four mobile clinics from April 21 to 28, 2022, targeting all residents and non-residents, aged 18 and above, who are not yet vaccinated.
This was confirmed by Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, also the chief implementer of the city government’s vaccination program.
“Literal po na kakatok tayo sa bawat tahanan upang suyurin ang mga hindi pa nababakunahan. Dadalhin po natin ang ating dalawang bus clinics at dalawang ambuvax. Ang utos po ni Mayor Lazatin ay bitbitin natin ang bakuna sa bawat pinto ng ating mga kababayan,” Calaguas said.
“We will be implementing an open-door policy, meaning we will vaccinate everyone regardless if they are residents of Angeles City or not,” Calaguas added.
On a virtual joint meeting of the Vaccination Committee held on April 19, 2022 presided by Calaguas, it was agreed that the 5-day Suyod Bakuna will kick off in barangays Sapangbato and Margot.
“Unlike the Ronda Bakuna na naka-station lang in a certain place, the Suyod Bakuna will roam all streets inside the village,” Calaguas mentioned.
City Health Officer Dr. Verona Guevarra said that aside from the house-to-house vaccination, the vaccination site at the Angeles City National High School will also accommodate walk-in residents and non-residents for first dose, second dose, and booster shots.
Dr. Guevarra also reiterated that Mayor Lazatin wants to triple the vaccination efforts to avoid compromising the quality of the vaccine shots.
“Gusto po ng siyudad na masiguro na magagamit natin ang mga bakuna para sa proteksyon ng ating mga mamamayan at hindi masayang lang,” Dr. Guevarra said.
She also explained that prior to the scheduled house-to-house vaccination, there will be health workers deployed to identify unvaccinated residents and non-residents in the barangay and further assess their health condition, especially senior citizens.
“Sa tulong po ng ating mga health workers, matutukoy po natin kaagad kung sino ang dapat nating bakunahan at mai-explain po sa kanila ang kahalagahan ng bakuna, kung bakit ito kailangan,” Dr. Guevarra added.
For her part, Nurse-Supervisor Evelinda Mariano shared that among the vaccines available are Moderna, Astrazeneca, Sinovac, and Janssen.
Moreover, City Social Welfare and Development Officer Edna Duaso and Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer-in-Charge Rodolfo Simeon will serve as ground commanders for the deployed mobile clinics.
Reina Manuel, Executive Assistant IV and Committee Head for Ways and Means, said that ancillary supplies for the 5-day house-to-house vaccination are all purchased, prepared, and ready.
Also present during the virtual meeting were Rafael Lazatin Memorial Medical Center Chief Medical Doctor Froilan Canlas, CSWDO Admin Head Chrysalene Cunanan, Rural Health Unit Physician Dr. Cristine Joy Patio, Office for the Senior Citizen Affairs Staff May David, Gender and Development Officer Mina Cabilles, Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer-in-Charge Irish Bonus-Llego, and City Information Office staff.
