ANGELES CITY — The aim of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. to provide quality education continues as the city is set to repair an estimated 2,000 damaged and condemned armchairs from the 57 public schools here.
Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas on Feb. 2, 2023 had an initial meeting with Schools Division Superintendent Dr. Ma. Irelyn Tamayo for the number of armchairs in each school that are in need of repairs.
“Mayor Lazatin is tapping the help of Schools Division Office of Angeles City for the assessment and evaluation of armchairs in each school,” Calaguas said.
To deliver this initiative, excess wood from the city government, and additional wood to be donated by the Department of Public Works and Highways will be used for the restoration.
“Tulad po nung sa proyekto ni Mayor Lazatin mga armchairs para sa Day Care centers, tatanggap po ang siyudad ng mga kahoy sa pamamagitan ng DPWH na gagamitin po natin para sa pagsasaayos ng mga upuan sa ating public schools,” Calaguas said.
“The Lazatin administration is exhausting all resources because we know this will bring long-term benefits for our city and our next generation,” Calaguas furthered.
During the meeting, which was also graced by Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel and City Engineer Donato Dizon, the City Engineers’ Office was tasked to pull out all the said armchairs from the city’s public schools.
“Naisip po namin na i-repair ang mga sirang armchairs dahil ang iba buo
pa ang mga bakal. Magagamit pa talaga,” City Engr. Dizon shared.
“Para po ito sa ating mga kabataang Angeleños na nais ni Mayor Pogi Lazatin na maging komportable sakanilang pag-aaral,” Calaguas meanwhile mentioned.
“Nais din ni Mayor Lazatin na makaambag sa paglutas ng problema ng bansa sa kakulangan ng mga kagamitan sa public schools,” Calaguas added.
According to Dr. Tamayo, the project of Mayor Lazatin is a big help to the public schools especially now that they are experiencing armchair shortage.
Calaguas also said that the city of Angeles has already done it, by fabricating chairs in the 76 Day Care centers.
“Ngayon naman po, ang gusto ni Mayor Lazatin ay ayusin ang mga upuan sa public schools,” Calaguas explained.
This, of course, Calaguas shared, was made possible through the partnership of Angeles City Government and Impact Balibago Arts and Crafts (IBAC) headed by Julio “Joey” Pamintuan.
Calaguas, on behalf of Mayor Lazatin, then thanked IBAC for assisting in the project.
Calaguas further explained that after repairing all the damaged chairs and there are still wood materials available, Mayor Lazatin plans to fabricate additional new chairs for public schools
also thru the help of IBAC.
“Kung madami pa po tayong sobrang mga kahoy, nagpapagawa pa po ng mga bagong chairs si mayor para sa mga public schools natin,” Calaguas said.
Part of the flagship program of Mayor Lazatin is to strengthen the educational programs of the city.
