ANGELES CITY—The city government here headed by Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. will hold a free pap smear as cancer precaution for Angeleñas.
The medical activity is scheduled on March 1, 2023 will kickstart the health campaign where a total of 250 tests will be initially available to women from the villages of Sto. Domingo, Lourdes Northwest, Pandan, Pulung Cacutud, and Balibago.
Mayor Lazatin instructed the Gender and Development Office (GAD) and the City Health Office (CHO) to bring the service to the 33 villages of Angeles City using three buses and two vans which are to be utilized as mobile clinics.
“Patuloy ang pangako ko sa inyo na ang serbisyong medikal sa ilalim ng aking administrasyon ay literal na dadalhin ko sa inyong mga pintuan,” Lazatin ensures.
According to Angeles City GAD officer Mina Cabiles, the free pap smear will serve as the highlight program to observe this year’s National Women’s month celebration.
“This free pap smear activity is only the first of the various Women’s Month celebration programs that Angeles City will deliver for the benefit and welfare of the Angeleñas,” Cabiles said.
Arnel San Pedro, head of the City Information Office said that the city government is committed to undertake 1,650 pap smears throughout the campaign.
Pap smear is a medical test conducted to detect cervical cancer.
Lazatin said that just like his father, Cong. Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin, grandfather Apung Feleng, and brother, First District Congressman Carmelo “Jon” Lazatin II, health is the cornerstone of his administration.
