ANGELES CITY — The city government here under the leadership of Mayor Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. is targeting to provide free circumcision to 1,650 kids aged 9 and above, starting on July 3, 2023 at the city’s six Rural Health Units.
This was shared by Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas, who presided a meeting earlier for the preparation of the free circumcision program which will be conducted for over a month.
Calaguas was with Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, City Health Office led by Dr. Verona Guevarra, and Gender and Development Officer-in-Charge Mina Cabiles during the meeting.
Calaguas said this is in pursuit of the main goal of Mayor Lazatin to provide accessible health care to all Angeleños especially the indigents.
“Ito pong libreng tuli ay gagawin natin sa mga RHUs simultaneously,” Calaguas furthered.
Manuel, for her part, also shared that the kids will take home kits which include Vitamin C supplements and medicines for the circumcision.
Manuel mentioned that aside from the health care operations, medicines under the RHUs are accessible to everyone, anytime.
Moreover, the registration for the free circumcision will take place on June 1 to 29, 2023, at the GAD Office, Monday to Thursday, from 8 AM to 5 PM.
GAD Officer-in-Charge Mina Cabiles said the parents or guardians should bring the birth certificate of the kids.
In addition, CHO Officer Dr. Verona Guevarra emphasized that only children aged 9 and above will be the main beneficiaries of the program.
Thirty midwives, nurses, and doctors from CHO will lead the operation ‘tuli’, scheduling 50 kids to be circumcised per day in each RHU.
To recall, a total of 3,228 kids benefitted from the free circumcision program in 2022.
The free circumcision program was first launched in Angeles City during the stint of Mayor Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin from 2002 to 2007.
