The Local Government Units (LGUs) covered by NLEX Corporation’s expressway network received essential food items through its food donation program aimed at benefitting government health workers in Metro Manila and North and Central Luzon.
The tollway company, builder and concessionaire of NLEX and SCTEX turned over boxes of food and snacks for health workers assigned in vaccination sites in 13 LGUs in Manila, Quezon City, Caloocan City, Malabon City, Navotas City, Bulacan, Pampanga, and Bataan.
In their social media posts, the Quezon City LGU led by Mayor Joy Belmonte and Malabon City LGU headed by Mayor Lenlen Oreta thanked the tollway company for the donations and pledged to readily distribute them to frontliners.
“Maraming salamat sa NLEX Corporation sa kanilang ibinigay. Agad po natin itong ipapamahagi sa ating health workers at front liners,” the QC LGU posted.
Mayor Oreta also expressed gratitude as he posted, “Maraming salamat sa mga ipinaabot ninyong donation sa aming lungsod, NLEX Corporation! Agad namin itong ibinahagi sa mga frontliners ng lungsod na naka-assign sa aming vaccination sites upang manatili silang malakas sa kanilang duty.”
Meanwhile, Manila Mayor Francisco “Isko Moreno” Domagoso recognized the company’s donations in one of his Facebook Live videos.
“The donations are part of our commitment to aid government’s efforts in the fight against COVID-19. Since the pandemic began last year, NLEX and the entire Metro Pacific group are striving to contribute to COVID-19 response efforts which will benefit healthcare workers, host communities, motorists, and the general public,” said J. Luigi L. Bautista, NLEX Corporation president and general manager.
Bulacan mayors also appreciated the donations. “Thank you for your donations, NLEX.
Last quarter, NLEX also donated food items and other essentials to communities hit by flooding and jeepney drivers affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Around 450 jeepney drivers traversing the NLEX and 1,000 families in Caloocan City, Valenzuela City, Bulacan, Pampanga, Tarlac, and Bataan benefitted from the said initiative.
