BULACAN – The Provincial Health Office (PHO) here announced that they have started the inoculation of 1,711 detainees or persons deprived of liberty (PDL) against coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) held at the Bulacan Provincial Jail on Wednesday.
Governor Daniel Fernando earlier directed the PHO to immediately inoculate the inmates at provincial jail wherein those who are going to receive a Sinovac Covid-19 are those who belong to senior citizens aged 60 years old and above and persons with comorbidities.
“The recipients of the vaccine are those who belong to A2 (senior citizens) and A3 (persons with comorbidities),” Alvaro said.
The vaccination roll out at the Bulacan Provincial Jail targets to inoculate 400 plus inmates a day for four days, and the next vaccination will be on October 15, 19, and 20, 2021.
“Kailangan naming tapusin sa apat na araw ang 1,711 inmates na mga kabilang sa A2 at A3 priority group para sa kanilang unang dose,” Alvaro added.
The provincial jail is on lockdown due to the ongoing pandemic to safeguard the health and safety of the inmates.
According to a jail guard who did not want to be named, they were locked down last year after the virus spread in the country and no visitors have been allowed to enter the facility until now.
Jail officers are also prohibited from unnecessary contact with all PDLs to avoid the risk of infection.
As of Tuesday afternoon, Provincial Health Office (PHO) reported that the total number of confirmed cases in the province is 79,955.
Of these figures, the PHO said that 77,564 have recovered, 1,052 are active cases and 1339 have died.
