BALER, Aurora (PIA) — Former rebels (FRs) from Aurora and neighboring Nueva Ecija gathered for a two-day summit in Baler town aimed at strengthening reintegration efforts and promoting long-term peace and development.
The summit is part of the government’s broader peace and development initiatives, in line with programs such as the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (E-CLIP), helping former rebels rebuild stable lives and reintegrate into their communities.
703rd Infantry Brigade Commander Brigadier General Eugenio Julio Osias IV said trust, inclusivity, and close coordination among agencies and communities remain key to sustaining peace gains.
He said the summit demonstrates how government agencies, local governments, and former rebels can work together to achieve long-term stability and growth.
Participants took part in discussions and planning sessions on livelihood and employment opportunities, access to basic services, psychosocial support, and strengthening community organizations.
The activity also encouraged former rebels to take on active roles as peace advocates in their respective communities.
For his part, Aurora Governor Isidro Galban emphasized that peace must be rooted in justice, opportunity, and compassion, highlighting the need for open dialogue and strong community ties.
He also called on communities, local groups, and other sectors to remain actively involved in peacebuilding efforts to sustain unity and support long-term development.
The summit underscored the government’s whole-of-nation approach to addressing insurgency by strengthening collaboration, expanding access to services, and promoting community participation.
Stakeholders also renewed their commitment to sustain reintegration programs and support initiatives that build resilient and peaceful communities in Aurora and nearby provinces.
