Camp Olivas, City of San Fernando, Pampanga — An illegal crypto-trafficking hub operating under the guise of a business process outsourcing (BPO) company was dismantled by joint operatives of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG), Police Regional Office 3 (PRO3) and other partner agencies in Angeles City recently.
The implementation of Search Warrant No. 25-426, issued by the Regional Trial Court Branch 58, was conducted at WONSO BPO Services Inc., located at The Knoll BPO Services Building, Santa Teresita, Angeles City.
The warrant covered violations of R.A. 9208 (Expanded Anti-Trafficking in Persons Act) in relation to R.A. 10175 (Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012).
During the operation, several workers—including two minors—were rescued, while three individuals were arrested identified only as alias “Lim,” a Korean national serving as manager/operator; “Gie,” a Filipina secretary; and “Jane,” a Filipina manager while a certain alias “Park,” a Korean national identified as another operator, remains at large.
Authorities determined that the establishment was allegedly involved in illegal cryptocurrency farming and online exploitation, luring recruits with supposed call center jobs but subjecting them instead to deceptive and exploitative digital labor.
Seized during the operation were 132 computer system units, 44 assorted cellular phones, several company documents and permits including modems, routers, and related digital devices.
