CITY OF MALOLOS – In honor of the 150th birth anniversary of Filipino revolutionary hero General Gregorio “Goyo” del Pilar, heritage and culture group Kabesera Inc. will stage “Goyo @150: Para sa Bayan, A Heroic Musical Play”, an original musical which will premiere on November 8 at the Hiyas ng Bulacan Convention Center.
The musical will dramatize the courage and sacrifice of Gen. Goyo and his brigade, the ”Brigada del Pilar”, culminating in the legendary Battle of Tirad that happened on December 2, 1899 where Goyo and his men made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of the country.
Additional performances will follow on November 24-25 at the Assumpta Academy in the town of Bulakan.
The production was officially launched last September 15 at the Museo ni Marcelo H. del Pilar in Bulakan.
Meanwhile, the proceeds from the tickets priced at P3,000 will fund the establishment of the Bulakan Culture and Heritage Community Center (BCHCC), which according to Kabesera Chairman Fortunato dela Peña, will serve as a home for the rich culture and history of other national heroes of the Philippines.
The musical production will not only honor a young general’s heroic legacy, but will also serve as a cultural movement to preserve and pass on the stories of the past to future generations.
