ON NATIONAL BIBLE DAY CELEBRATION, CIBAC SOLON PUSHES THE TEACHING OF TEN COMMANDMENTS IN SCHOOLS

In celebration of National Bible Day, CIBAC Party-List Rep.  Bro. Eddie Villanueva filed House Bill 11339 which mandates the integration of the Ten Commandments into the Good Manners and Right Conduct (GMRC) and Values Education (VE) subjects in the country’s  basic education curriculum.
The measure also calls for the prominent display of the Decalogue in every classroom to serve as a daily reminder of values such as faith, honoring parents, respecting life, and living with integrity.
“The Ten Commandments is more than a religious doctrine; it is also a historical fact and document which is generally recognized as a fundamental influence in shaping the development of secular laws and legal codes in the world today. This measure aims to recognize and avail of the Ten Commandments as a potent tool in implementing the Constitutional mandate of promoting and protecting the spiritual and moral well-being of the Filipino youth,” said Rep. Villanueva.
“Belief and faith in God is one of the dominant Filipino values as no less than the Preamble of the Philippine Constitution affirms such. This measure is not about imposing religion but about equipping our future generation with needed moral and ethical principles. Teaching our students the Ten Commandments helps us fulfill the Constitutional mandate of strengthening the ethical and moral values of our youth,” Rep. Villanueva added.
The CIBAC solon also said that the measure is a proactive strategy to counter the onslaught of foreign woke ideologies that lure the youth into straying from and forsaking our cherished God-and-family-centered values and beliefs.
Aside from the bill, Rep. Villanueva also filed House Resolution 2195 which urges the Department of Education to start teaching and displaying the Ten Commandments in schools pending the passage of the measure.
“The Word of God is our source of hope for this country. By inculcating the Ten Commandments in our youth’s lives, we have hope for a bright future because we would nip at the bud the various moral, social, and political problems that might beset us,” ended Rep. Bro. Eddie.
Pursuant to Republic Act 11163 or the National Bible Day law, the last Monday of the month of January every year is declared as National Bible Day.
