PAMPANGA — Carmelo “Pogi” Lazatin, Jr. will join the nationwide Brigada Eskwela 2024 in Mabalacat City and Magalang Town on July 23 and July 24, respectively.
60 schools in Mabalacat City and 27 schools in Magalang Town will receive 40 liters of paint and 10 sacks of cement each, personally donated by Lazatin out of his own pocket.
Participating and donating in the Brigada Eskwela has been a yearly tradition for Lazatin ever since he first became a Councilor in Angeles City back in 2013.
When Lazatin formally announced his intent to run as Representative for the Pampanga First District on June 28, 2024, he declared that he will join the ‘Brigada Eskwela’ in Angeles City, Mabalacat City, and Magalang Town to see for himself what the needs of the public schools are.
“Tayo po ay makikilahok sa ‘Brigada Eskwela’ sa Angeles, Mabalacat, at Magalang para makita ko mismo ang lagay at pangangailangan ng ating mga public schools,” Lazatin said.
Lazatin has always been a staunch advocate for education.
As Angeles City Mayor, Lazatin spearheaded the repair of daycare centers in Angeles City, amounting to P5 Million; the construction of additional classrooms, offices, laboratories, and canteen at the City College of Angeles (CCA), amounting to P259 million; and the construction of the P50 million New Annex Building of the CCA, funded by the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR).
Also under the Lazatin administration, 58,000 tablets were distributed to public students in Angeles City from Grades 4 to 12; 3,200 tablets were distributed to public school teachers; and 3,200 tablets were distributed to students of CCA.
As part of his legislative agenda as Pampanga First District Representative, Lazatin vows to file measures that will increase funds for the maintenance of classrooms in public schools and increase the salaries of public school teachers with an additional P20,000 across the board.
